you know when you have those days/hours/afternoons/evenings that it literally takes you another day to even step back and not be overwhelmed by it??
yeah...mine was tuesday.
i did my workout (shout out to the biggest loser:cardio max....bob and jillian should be shot. but at least i got a break from anita and her bitch-faced smug smile), and then i hung out with the dogs.
i'm sitting there, and i look over and see bo standing in the middle of lots of little dark pawprints.
my first thought:: "oh shit"....literally.
except he hadn't pooped and walked all in it....
all those dark spots?? WATER. SQUISHING UP FROM UNDER THE CARPET.
commence my complete and total freakout.
we're renovating the bathroom that's to the right of that little hallway-thing in the pic (don't worry, THOSE adventures will be a whole other post) and so i'm freaking out....somehow the toilet clogged for the first time ever, and overflowed, but really quietly...couldn't hear it running. all this was about 90 minutes of flow.
i figure out how to turn the water off to the toilet (after a frantic call to the hubs), and when he gets home like 10 minutes later.....we literally spend the better part of an hour using the bissell pro-heat to extract water from the carpet, plus some old-school stomping on a towel.
oh yeah, and then that night, because the carpet was still damp...my wet foot slipped on the way up the stairs, and i kicked the stair and busted my big toenail on my left foot like halfway down.
NOT COOL UNIVERSE.
anyone else dealt with flooded carpets? did you also want to febreeze the room every time you walked in?

That sucks! We had a flooding problem once, years ago. We were renting, so we didn't have to deal with it, we just moved. It was a bit of a hassle because we moved in like a day though. I just remember they had to pull up the carpets and put a big dryer in to make sure there was no moisture left in the pads. Hope it doesn't turn into too big of a fix for you guys!
Oh crap!! That's so awful. I've never dealt with a flooded carpet, but I did deal with a flooded ceiling (snow backed up the drains on the roof and the water had no where to go as it melted...except for into my living room). I wish I had any advice for you. *hug*
You need to really watch the carpeting over the next few days - we had a flood like this as well, and after the crew used wetvacs we had to pull up ALL of the carpeting, let the floors dry out, and then recarpet. If you leave the carpeting on or recarpet before the underlying wood is dry, you run a high risk of developing some serious mold.
We had a small one that we caught after a few minutes, and only a small partion of the carpet right near the bathroom got wet, and we were able to avoid the whole ripping up the carpet fiasco. But seeing the pawprints, you definitley have serious water damage...
My parents basement flooded and they had to lift up the carpet and put fans blowing under them to make sure everything was dry. What a pain for you!
oh noooooooo!!!! my ex's family had that happen when some dickwad put a hose through their window and flooded their whole house. they ended up removing the carpet and refinishing the wood underneath. there really isn't anything else to do.
Oh, no! I am so sorry! I almost caught the carpet on fire once, but have not ever had water issues (thankfully). I hope tomorrow is better. =(
Ohhh so not fun! My parents had a pipe burst and did that to the whole house. they had to pull up all the carpet and lay it over the fence to dry, it was awful!!
